Obtaining a CCW (carry concealed weapons) permit in Northern CA is much easier than many bay area and Southern CA counties.

You must schedule an appointment directly with the Nevada County Sheriff Department, CCW division. You shall demonstrate good moral character, prove that you are an outstanding resident of Nevada County, and be prepared to undergo a thorough and complete background check.

Upon approval of your Nevada County initial CCW application, you will be required to complete a 16 hour CCW training or an 8 hour CCW training for renewals, including demonstrating the ability to safely (and proficiently) handle and use the handguns (up to 3) to be on your permit, and you must "qualify" with each weapon to be on your permit, by specific serial number.
